2 great new trailers and Peanuts

This week my inbox has received new trailers for three upcoming films. Some sooner than others. I have put them in order of my enthusiasm.

Peanuts, Godzilla and Spider-man

Godzilla

The new, final, trailer hit my in box quite early in the week and its epic. It just takes the previous trailers and adds more and more to being an epic of all proportions.

The trailer still doesn’t really show how big she actually is but it does show a lot more of the destruction that a monster off that height would cause. A lot!

An epic rebirth to Toho’s iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure, from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures, pits the world’s most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity’s scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

Another science fiction film’s final trailer also hit my inbox this week. That being:

Spider-man

This is the second chapter of the latest reboot trilogy. The one with Andrew Garfield.

This time it has Jamie Foxx as the baddie, Electro. It does seem to also have Rhino but the previous trailers have seemed to have ignored that fact. This one changes that.

We see Rhino causing chaos at the end. Otherwise the rest of the plot has been shown. I won’t spoil it for you, just click to play and then you’ll see what I mean.

It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

The final one is about a cartoon character that has has a special place in the hearts of children for the last couple of generations. That being the unlucky, Charlie Brown.

Fox has decided to make a film about Chuck and the gang. Great idea I thought. Then I saw the image that came with the trailer and my heart dropped.

It looks cheap and tacky. From Fox’s animation arm that is about to give us Rio 2. It seems to have all the charm of the current, CGI, Garfield cartoons.

Its going to be the first “full length peanuts film”, well according to the press release I received.

I saw that and thought about A Charlie Brown Christmas. Then I realised that that is just a “short”. On the other hand, there has already been 4 feature films staring the peanuts gang. The latest one in 1980, Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown (and Don’t Come Back!!).

The film is just simply called Peanuts but we, in the UK, are getting it called:

Snoopy and Charlie Brown: A Peanuts Movie

The trailer doesn’t show much. It has the feel of “we need to get something done, so let’s tidy up and release some of the test footage”. Even so, we still have 18 months to wait.

For the first time ever, Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the rest of the gang we know and love from Charles Schulz’s timeless “Peanuts” comic strip will be making their big-screen debut; like they’ve never been seen before in CG-Animated Feature film in 3D.

They can claim it’ll be the first CGI one. The one that fans will wonder who thought doing it that was was a good idea as everything before was hand drawn and loved by everyone.
