Another look at The Guardians of the Galaxy

Two things have just hit my in-box in regards to the Guardians of the Galaxy.

First, I have been sent over a section of “Character Posters”. We get two for the CGI characters and two of the human ones. It’s 5 characters on 4 posters. I first thought that they had missed out one of them. That’s not the case as they crowbarred the smallest and largest character into one poster.

The two with the human characters are polar opposites. The one with Gamora looks like she has been photoshopped to an inch of her life. It’s almost like she has been drawn as a Marvel character than an actual person. Quill, sorry Star-Lord, On the other hand looks like there has been minimaly touched up.

The second, is what is described as “Character Descriptions”. I would call it, in universe, as a very potted biography of the person mentioned.

So without further ado, I give you the posters & character’s potter biographies.
Peter Quill (Chris Pratt)
Guardians of the Galaxy - Peter Quill poster

Peter Quill is an interstellar adventurer who was abducted from Earth at a young age. After recovering an ancient artifact, Quill must rally an unlikely team of cosmic misfits to prevent a powerful villain from destroying the galaxy.

Gamora (Zoe Saldana)
Guardians of the Galaxy - Gamora poster

Gamora is an orphan from an alien world who was raised by the mysterious Thanos to become the perfect weapon. As Thanos’ personal assassin, Gamora has earned a reputation as a formidable warrior. Gamora now seeks redemption for her past crimes.

Drax (Dave Bautista)
Guardians of the Galaxy - Drax poster

A physical brute, Drax has a personal vendetta against Ronan, who killed his family. Now fuelled by pure rage, Drax will stop at nothing to take his revenge on the most dangerous being in the galaxy.

Groot (Vin Diesel) & Rocket (Bradley Cooper)
Guardians of the Galaxy - Groot and Rocket poster

Groot descends from a race of walking flora and resembles a sentient tree. Despite his strange appearance and limited communication skills, Groot proves to be a valuable ally and a loyal friend—not only to his fellow bounty hunter Rocket but to the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy as well.

Rocket is a bounty hunter and mercenary whose mastery of weapons and battle tactics make him a formidable warrior, despite being a genetically altered, cybernetically enhanced, talking raccoon. The result of traumatic biological experimentation, Rocket is a genuine gun-toting bad-ass and mechanical genius who has a huge chip on his shoulder.

They are, standard, character posters but what stands out is the white “glow” around some of the characters. It’s not that obvious on this page as they are quite small. Click on them to make them bigger on the other hand…

Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits—Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand—with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.
