BrOTHERHOOD Dominates the UK box office

Brotherhood - Trailer
BAFTA award – winning actor, writer and director Noel Clarke’s final instalment of the British “Hood” trilogy, BrOTHERHOOD, opened in cinemas to a remarkable £1.979m on 220 cinemas screens, marking the biggest opening of a British Independent trilogy and securing its place at the no. 2 spot in the UK Box Office.

Following the huge opening success of AdULTHOOD which took £1,203,319 from 157 cinemas, the cultural phenomenon’s final instalment cemented its relevance with cinemagoers by challenging the likes of Sausage Party by boasting the most robust screen average across all films this weekend – taking £8,951, leaving the competition trailing nearly 50% behind.

Lionsgate CEO Zygi Kamasa commented, “We’re thrilled with these results which show that Noel and his team made a relevant and authentic film which spoke beyond its core audience. The success of the film also proves that a British film can cut through a crowded market and deliver solid results when an audience is engaged.

Noel Clarke added, “The BrOTHERHOOD box office results are the perfect way to end the trilogy and reflect a lot of hard work over a lot of years. Making three films that speak genuinely to audiences is always a challenge, but we have proved that these films resonate to a generation of young people who are not always represented in film and beyond. The results speak for themselves.

BrOTHERHOOD follows Sam as he faces up to the new world after ADULTHOOD and realizes it also comes with new problems and new challenges. Sam knows that to survive he must face his issues head on, and knows he will require old friends to help him survive new dangers. Noel Clarke (Star Trek into darkness, Doctor Who, Adulthood.) reprises the role of Sam Peel with breakthrough Grime artist Stormzy appearing alongside him as Yardz. The film is written and directed by Noel Clarke who also produced alongside Jason Maza, Maggie Monteith and Gina Powell.
