Katniss is Queen of the UK cinemaThe opening weekend figures are in.  Katniss is now the queen of the UK box office.  Mockingjay Part 2 has topped the charts with an estimates £11.2 million box office take.  Not only that, over the weekend over 50% of the UK cinema audience saw what happened to Katniss.

She managed to knock 007 off the top spot! The figures came from a record 1,613 screens at 577 cinemas. These figures mark the largest ever screen count for the franchise in the UK. Not only that, but one of the biggest openings in recent years.

Teamed with a group of her closest friends – including Gale, Finnick, and Peeta – Katniss goes off on a mission with the unit from District 13 as they risk their lives to stage an assassination attempt on President Snow who has become increasingly obsessed with destroying her. The mortal traps, enemies, and moral choices that await Katniss will challenge her more than any arena she faced in The Hunger Games.
