See more of Wardaddy’s Sherman

A new set of images for the Brad Pitt war film, Fury, has hit.

It’s a nice mix of action and behind-the-scenes images. Mostly these are showing off the real heroes of the film. The Sherman and Tiger tanks.

There are a lot more Sherman tanks running than there are Tiger Tanks. Unless you want to do this sort of film and use CGI tanks then you’re fine. If, on the other hand, you want the real thing it gets a bit harder. There is only one fully running Tiger tank in the world. She lives in a museum in the UK. In the Tank museum at Bovington.

That tank has a great history of her own. The restoration project, that is still ongoing, started in 1999 and fifteen years later she is the star of a Brad Pitt film.

April, 1945. As the Allies make their final push in the European Theatre, a battle-hardened army sergeant named Wardaddy (Brad Pitt) commands a Sherman tank and her five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Outnumbered and outgunned, and with a rookie soldier thrust into their platoon, Wardaddy and his men face overwhelming odds in their heroic attempts to strike at the heart of Nazi Germany.
