Cool new stuff from Firebox

Firebox logoI’ve just received a great email from Firebox. It’s been quite a while between them but then again, they do do some great stuff. Ranging from the really geeky to sweet. The first of the five items on the list is the one that caught my eye. The ability to design 3D objects without any computer knowledge. All you need is a pen and some imagination.

I love all the products but… The only one I’m not sure of is the PyroPet Candle. Is it too expensive for a candle or are you paying for a wax covered sculpture? I’m not sure, that’s for you to decide.

The other great product on the list is the cardboard Table Football, sorry Foosball, Table. When did it change its name? When I was a kid [stop that, get back on topic – ed]. Why pay thousands for one when you can pick one up from Firebox for under £100!

3Doodler – The World’s First 3D Printing Pen: £99.99

Now you can bring your pictures to life, exactly as you imagined them with the 3Doodler. Just plug it in and start drawing as you would with a regular pen, only in the air. The 3Doodler neatly squeezes out a thin, flexible, but strong thread of heated plastic that quickly hardens, allowing you to create colourful three-dimensional shapes in real time. It feels natural in the hand and no technical knowledge or computer software is necessary. You can draw freehand or trace over templates to create larger structures and objects – there’s hundreds available online to help get you started.

Lecter Dinner Set: £29.99

Indulge in the distinguished dinner of a cannibalistic psychopath with the Lecter Dinner Set. This minimalist wooden box contains Fava beans and a ‘nice’ Chianti. It even comes with an embroidered napkin and decorative fork.

Tasting notes: Good with liver.

PyroPet Candle: £34.99

It may look like an innocuous wax ornament, but strike a match, light the wick and you’ll soon see the PyroPet Candle for what it really is. Slowly but surely the cute geometric kitten exterior is eroded away and all that remains is a haunting metallic skeleton stood ominously in a pool of wax. So why not sit this malevolent moggie up on your mantelpiece and bring a little evil ambiance into your home.

Bear Skin Picnic Blanket: £24.99

When it comes to alfresco dining, you can’t beat a classic picnic, but getting covered in grass stains isn’t much fun, and no one particularly enjoys lugging a giant woollen rug down to the park. So why not relax and recline upon the soft, chequered hide of the Bear Skin Picnic Blanket instead. This spacious beast has plenty of room for a couple of friends, as well as the most bounteous of picnic spreads.

Flat Pack Cardboard Foosball Table: £79.99

The World Cup may be over, but fret not. Regulation-sized and made from 100% sustainable raw materials, this clever kit features everything you’d expect from a Foosball Table and more – but at a fraction of the price. Score sliders, four beer holders and even a handy amplifier for your smartphone. It arrives flat-packed and can be quickly assembled without the need for any glue, screws or tools. But best of all it folds back down into an easy-to-carry package so that it’s completely portable. Sure it’s not quite the beer-stained mahogany beast you’re used to down the local drinking hole, but it’s not trying to be.
